Blizzard continued to tweak the game for over a year following until Reaper of Souls D2R Items. One month before Reaper came out, it was on February 25. 2014. Blizzard deployed Patch 2. 0. 1. This was the most significant single update to the game yet and introduced some of the changes which made the game recognizable to current players.

Patch 2. 0. 1 included major quality-of life improvements for every player, regardless of how they plan to get Diablo: Reaper of Souls. Paragon levels were merged among characters. The difficulty of the game was greatly improved, as monsters would now grow in proportion to your level. These levels of difficulty are created on new levels: Normal, Hard, Expert, and Master, as well as various levels of Torment.

Torment will bring greater rewards, and was intended to encourage players who are in the endgame to improve their skills and gaining better loot. The patch also revised it's crafting mechanic and made it simpler and added a temporary bonus to experience known as Pools of Reflection.

The central feature of the updates which were promised is Loot 2. 0. The loot grind of the first release had flooded players with an abundance of junk loot after patch, post-patch players saw that they were getting much lesser loot, and what they did get was of much higher quality.

Loot will have more bonuses and special properties, and those properties would be tailored to the player's individual build D2R ladder items buy. Legendary items would provide the ability to modify skills or other property that could alter gameplay more frequently.
